Hazardous Materials (H) Endorsement Theory Training

This course satisfies the Hazardous Materials Endorsement Theory Training requirements contained in 49 CFR Part 380 Appendix E and prepares students for the Washington State Hazardous Materials Endorsement Knowledge Examination. Students will learn hazardous materials regulations, hazard classification, hazard communication, shipping descriptions, shipping papers, marking, labeling, placarding, emergency response procedures, loading and unloading requirements, cargo tank operations, route restrictions, parking requirements, security awareness, and hazardous materials transportation safety requirements.

Step 1

Fingerprinting Fee: $85.50

Bring one of the following:

  • REAL ID (Washington Enhanced Driver License or ID), FOR TSA
  • Birth Certificate or Passport (if you do NOT have a REAL ID)
Step 2

Wait for the TSA background check results.

Step 3

Register with Sunnyside CDL School and Complete Online (Powersuite)

ELDT Online Course – $28 (must be completed to get assigned training date)

Step 4

Complete 16-Hour HazMat Training at Sunnyside CDL School

  • Classes held 1 weekend per month β€” Saturday & Sunday, 8am–4pm each day. Students must attend both days.
  • Wait 48 hours after completing training before taking the knowledge test.

Take the HazMat Knowledge Test at the DOL

DOL Endorsement Fee: $20 + $17 for each year remaining on your CDL
